10 Ways to Practice Self-Care

I feel like a lot of people think that self-care means you have to put on a big production. I mean, why don't you just casually light 9000 candles, lay in the bath with drinking green juice you just made yourself all while chanting self-love affirmations. LOL. WHO HAS THE F-ING TIME. It really just doesn't need to be that deep!

But carving out a little time to do self-care each day is SO important! These are 10 things I do on a regular basis to practice self-care.

  1. TAKE A BATH – If you want to make it ultra-luxe and relaxing, you really can’t go wrong with these.
  2. GO FOR A WALK – Literally the best way to clear my head. Leave your phone at home or keep it on airplane mode and just be present!
  3. JOURNAL – I find this is the most helpful for letting go of thoughts I’m ruminating on. But it’s nice to reflect on the positive things too, you know I love a good gratitude list!
  4. DO A HAIR MASK – You can always go the store-bought route or make something natural at home. But I typically just use straight up coconut oil because it’s so easy! Coconut oil is super nourishing and is so key for hair growth.
  5. DO A FACE MASK – Obvi this is sort of a self-care classic…But the key here is to be present and just relax! When I do this, it’s typically in the bath or I’ll sit on the couch and read.  It’s not just about looking good, it’s about FEELING good. Here are my faves for each skin type: oily and acne // dry // combination // sensitive // normal.
  6. COLOR – The repetitive motion of coloring is actually really soothing for the brain, plus it’s just fun AF.
  7. TURN OFF YOUR PHONE 1 HOUR BEFORE BED – It seems hard at first but you’ll sleep SO much better. This is such a nice way to have a little “digital detox” on the daily.
  8. PULL A TAROT CARD – I’ve recently become obsessed with Tarot, it’s such a fun way to reflect and gain insight. I love doing a full spread (and I have a ritual that goes along with that), but sometimes it’s nice to just pull just one card. If you’re new to Tarot, you have to follow this Instagram account and I would highly her book. Just wait, you are are going to be just as obsessed as I am!
  9. PRACTICE MINDFULNESS – You already know I’m going to tell you that Headspace is the best app ever!
  10. GIVE YOURSELF A HAND MASSAGE – I always do this before bed! It feels amazing and I wake up with the softest skin. Bonus points for adding cuticle oil (my fave here).

I love incorporating crystals into my self-care rituals and routine because they are just so damn healing! Essential oils come in handy too for a lot of these self-care ideas I’ve listed above. Peppermint, Lavender are my go-to’s, but I also love Bergamont this time of year. Also candles…Because they’re just relaxing AF. This one is my current fave, it comes with a cute little box of matches too!
