How to Incorporate Ayurveda into Your Beauty Routine + My Favorite Products

Ayurveda is an ancient wellness and healing system that originated in India thousands of years ago. One of the core beliefs of Ayurveda is that the skin reflects what is going on inside the body, which is so true!

AYURVEDA BALANCE & BEAUTY

Ayurveda is all about balance. In order to achieve perfect balance, you have to know your Dosha (Vata, Pitta or Kapha). Each dosha is unique and requires different things to balance the mind, body, and spirit. When things are balanced on the inside, your skin will be looking gorgeous AF.

Bombay Beauty Co Rose Skincare

Ayurveda has some pretty amazing beauty rituals. If you end up at a spa that has them, definitely try a Shirodhara or Abhyanga treatment. Sycronyzed tandem massage? UM YES PLEASE! But if we’re keeping it real, there are much more practical ways to incorporate Ayurveda into your beauty routine. There two skincare products I’m currently obsessed with that are made with Ayurvedic ingredients.

AYURVEDA INSPIRED SKINCARE FAVES

This Rose Facial Mist is so refreshing and really helps even out my complexion. The apple cider vinegar and witch hazel help to tone and tighten my pores and rosewater calms the redness I get around my nose and cheeks. The essential oil blend in it smells SO effing good! Clearly, my Bengal Milo is very much about the Ayurveda life these days ;). LOL.

Now my current beauty fave, the Bombay Beauty Co. Ubtan Clay Mask! Ubtan is a blend of Ayurvedic herbs and comes in a powder form.  Ravy, the owner of Bombay Beauty Co. (who has flawless skin FYI) suggests you use the rose toner I just talked about or yogurt (probiotics are fab for the skin) to mix the mask into a paste. The mask contains kaolin clay, which is my favorite of all the clays because it’s so detoxifying and absorbs excess oil. There is also oatmeal, which helps reduce inflammation and makes my skin feel so silky! The mask/mist set comes with a little copper bowl and a wooden spoon. Which are cute AF, but also are traditional in Ayurveda.

This mask is such an essential part of my beauty prep for a photo shoot or event. It just makes my complexion SO glowy and helps a lot with breakouts. So after I’ve done the mask, used the mist and applied a  facial oil, my skin is perfectly prepped and ready for makeup!

Both of these are cruelty-free and completely non-toxic. Literally, these products are so pure you could eat them. Hence why I didn’t go into a full-blown panic when Milo wanted to take a sniff! Now OBVI I wouldn’t suggest you (or your pets) ingest them, but it’s just nice to know that these products are clean AF. They’re also made right here in Vancouver which is so very cool, you know I love a local beauty find! Both of these are totally LLG approved and I would recommend them for every skin type.
