Drugstore Powders: Hits and Misses

There are so many great products you can get at the drugstore, but I find that complexion products (foundation, concealer, powder, etc.) typically leave me feeling disappointed. But I’m not a quitter, you best believe I will happily try out every powder at the drugstore until I find the perfect one ;)! Out of these three drugstore powders, one stood apart from the rest.

Drugstore Powders Hits and Misses

Bourjois Loose Powder
I had such high hopes for this powder, especially after I fell in love with the Radiance Reveal Concealer. Unfortunately, this powder ended up looking ultra patchy on my skin. It seemed to grab on to certain areas of my face more than others, resulting in an orangey, cakey, splotchy mess. Final Verdict? Miss!

Revlon Photoready Translucent Finishing Powder
So clearly I missed the memo about the shimmery specs in this powder…. As soon as I applied it I was shining bright like a diamond, in a way that Rihanna would not approve of. Though this is labeled as a “translucent” powder, I wouldn’t agree with that. I found it left a white residue, which in combination with the shimmer was not a good look.

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Powder
Finally, we have a winner! This powder will keep your face on lock all day long. I loved that it just melted into the skin without settling into fine lines or looking cakey. The great thing about this powder is that it contains salicylic acid, which is especially great for those with oily or acneic skin.

I am happy that the Maybelline pressed powder was a hit, but now I’m on the hunt for a loose powder from the drugstore! Do you have any recommendations? Let me know in the comments!
