How I Came Up With My Blog Name

I thought about starting a blog in the Spring of 2015 and didn't come up with a name until later that Summer. I remember waking up in the middle of the night thinking YES, LAUREN'S LIP GLOSSARY THAT'S THE ONE! So that being said, always keep a notepad next to your bed!

4 THINGS THAT WILL HELP YOU COME UP WITH A BLOG NAME

I did think about it A LOT prior to that moment at 4AM. So if you’re thinking about starting a blog (you totally should) but are having trouble coming up with a name, these are a few things I did that really helped me!

KNOW YOUR GOALS

Write down your goals and/or your mission statement. Jot down any words associated with what you want to post about. I wrote down a ton of beauty and fashion related things, lipgloss being one of them! OH AND GIRL, I MEAN LITERALLY WRITE, don’t type! Your brain works differently when you put things down on paper and trust me, it’ll help

So for me…My goal is to inspire women to live and beautiful life, inside and out. I wanted my blog to be a place where I shared my knowledge of skincare and makeup (I am an esthetician) and to make beauty fun, not intimidating. Sort of like a beauty guide, but I wanted it to have elements of my personal life as well. So I popped my name in the title and Lauren’s Lip Glossary sounded perfect to me.

TAKE YOUR TIME

I think we all know that there are about 5 bazillion girls who’ve chosen a name modeled after the Cupcakes and Cashmere formula… Emily is and will forever be the OG. It’s worth taking time to come up with someone that’s unique and memorable.

KNOW YOUR VIBE

What’s the look/feel/vibe you’re going for? How will your name look on your website header, social graphics, OR even on a product label/tag? THINK BIG BABY!

So for me, I wanted it to feel feminine, glam, and luxe but still playful!

JUST GO WITH IT

And lastly, when you know, you know. When your intuition tells you it sounds right…Don’t question it too much and just go with it!

So if you do start a blog, come back and drop a link in the comments below so I can check it out!
