Makeup Brush Cleaning Tips

I think I speak for all of us when I say makeup brush cleaning is annoying AF! Thankfully I have a few products that make the brush cleaning process so much easier.

BEAUTYBLENDER BLENDER CLEANSER

The BeautyBlender Liquid Blender Cleanser is the crème de la crème. Truly a makeup brush cleaning essential if you ask me! The scent is super neutral and the formula doesn’t contain any dye, which is a major key! It will never stain your brush bristles or irritate sensitive skin. I personally prefer the liquid formula, but they also make a solid bar cleanser.

SIGMA MAKEUP BRUSH CLEANING MAT

Not that I’m being dramatic, but the Sigma Makeup Brush Cleaning Mat literally changed my life. I’m all about efficiency and this mat really helps streamline the brush cleaning process. There are SO many different textures on the mat, so it cleans all types of brushes. It takes literally 5 seconds to get a dirty foundation brush looking just like new again. Plus, this means no more prune hands!

LLG TIPS

  • Hang your brushes upside down with an elastic band to dry them. Weird and extra AF, I know! But this way, no water gets into the ferrule! The ferrule is where the bristles and brush handle attach. You want to avoid getting water in the ferrule as it will break up the glue and damage your brushes!
  • Try to clean your brushes at least once a week….I know we’re all lazy, but you’re really sabotaging your skin if you don’t clean them! This is a MUST if you have acne or are prone to breakouts.
  • If you want to be a serious overachiever, use a daily brush cleanser (my fave here) after you do your makeup.
