Rainbow and unicorn-inspired makeup seem to be very popular in the beauty world right now. Tarte had a crazy sale a few weeks back and I couldn’t pass up this Spellbound Rainbow Highlighter. This baby typically goes for 39 dollars, but I copped it for 23. Heck yes!
What I really love about this highlighter is that while it is called a “rainbow” highlighter, the colours are super wearable. I thought I’d only use the purple shade on my eyes, but it gives a really lovely periwinkle gleam that is slightly iridescent. The formula isn’t chalky at all, it’s very buttery and sets right into the skin giving a “lit from within” kind of glow. All of the shades look beautiful alone or swirled together, I love mixing them for a soft browbone highlight. Also, the vanilla extract in the formula makes it smell so dreamy.
Packaging wise there was a small issue, the pan wasn’t glued to the compact so it kept spinning around when I was trying to swatch it! But it’s no biggie, I will just pop a magnet on the back and throw it into my Z-Palette with the rest of my pans. However, I must say that the rose gold compact is super cute and I love the gold geometric details.
Tarte never fails to amaze me, this highlighter is a 10/10 and the packaging mishap really didn’t bother me at all because it’s such an easy fix. The Tarte Spellbound Rainbow Highlighter can be purchased at Sephora (on sale), Tarte.com, or QVC. During the Tarte sale, I also grabbed the Clay Play Face Shaping Palette and Tarteist Matte Lip Paint in “Bestie”. There will be swatches and reviews later this week, so keep an eye out 😉
