Vancouver Winter Date Idea: Robson Square

Robson Square ice skating

Ice skating is seriously one of the most Instagrammable winter dates there is! You and your bae amongst the twinkling lights and Christmas trees, all while wearing ice skates makes for a pretty cute pic. Oh, but actually getting to skate across the ice is fun too ;)! The skating rink at Robson square is free to use if you have your own skates, or if not you can rent them for $4. It was a bit busy when we went, so I suggest going on a weeknight rather than a weekend.

There was great music, the decorations made the rink feel so festive, and the lighting created such a lovely ambiance. This was the first time I had skated in years, and the first few laps were rough. Thankfully, Cody was there to keep me upright and I can proudly say I did not fall once!

What does one wear ice skating? Well, I can honestly say I was a bit confused myself. Obvi I wanted to look cute, but not freeze my bum off! My cozy cardigan (Zadig & Voltaire) and furry scarf (Gucci) were major keys to staying warm. Underneath I wore a simple bodysuit (Urban Outfitters) and mini skirt (Sunday Best) with tights. These tights (Wilfred) are on the thicker side, so they kept my legs toasty.

A few more outfit ideas are below, I love how feminine the skirt/bodysuit combo looks! Which one would you wear skating?

Cody and I had so much fun, and you should definitely check out Robson Square if you’ll be in Vancouver for the holidays. Stay tuned for more winter date recaps this week!
