Tips for Staying Focused and Productive AF

There is a Warren Buffet quote I absolutely love. It truly captures the essence of being a boss ass bitch.

“We don’t have to be smarter than the rest; we have to be more disciplined than the rest”

A lot of days I feel super unmotivated, tired, and straight up depressed if I’m being real. That’s where discipline and having a solid daily routine really come into play. I thought I’d share with you some of my personal tips for staying focused and getting shit done.

Creating a workspace environment that helps me get into the zone and be creative is so crucial. There are a few things I have in my office that really help make the magic happen.

DIFFUSER – As soon as I get into the office, I add a couple drops of the Escents focus essential oil blend to my diffuser (this is the exact one I have). My body and mind know that it’s time to settle in and get to work when I smell that oil. I also love putting pure peppermint oil on my neck to really wake me up.

DOHM – The next thing I do is make sure the Dohm is on. It’s so soothing and just helps get rid of any distracting sounds. It makes a huge difference, I have one in my house and have to have one when I travel.

DESK AESTHETIC – When my desk is cluttered, I just can’t focus. I try to keep things as organized and aesthetically pleasing as possible, it makes my office look branded AF and helps with creative vibes. All of my office accessories are pink and rose gold!

BKR BOTTLE – Obviously staying hydrated is key for glowing skin but also for staying focused. H2O is essential for brainpower as I’m sure we all know. I’m obsessed with both Bkr and S’well water bottles! I’m more team Bkr these days though TBH. I prefer drinking from glass (opposed to metal) and Bkr just came out with a lid that has a spot for LIP BALM. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.

BATCHING – When I first starting blogging, I’d set aside time each day to prep that days social media content. Now, I set aside a longer period of time on Monday to plan out all my posts for the entire week. Once I get into the workflow, I’m so much more efficient and can stay super focused. I do this with literally everything now (taking photos, editing content, filming) and it’s a game changer.

TIME BLOCKING – I’ll set a timer on my phone for a given amount of time and work on only one thing. I don’t check my texts, look on social media, or do anything other than the task at hand. This is SO key for time management, staying focused, and also helps me feel less overwhelmed by big projects because I can break it up into smaller chunks of time.

CHECKING EMAILS – I only check my inbox twice a day, and you better believe I time block that shit. It’s super easy to get sidetracked by replying to each email as soon as you get a notification. Marianna Hewwit mentioned in an Instagram post that “email isn’t your job, it’s just a tool to help you do your job” and I couldn’t agree more.

BREAKS – Taking a few minutes to meditate (headspace), stretch, go for a walk or just look at something other than a computer screen is essential. I used to feel guilty for taking breaks, but I’m so much more productive after I’ve taken some time away from my desk.

GRAMMARLY – Spellcheck on crack. You can add an extension right into chrome/safari so your grammar and spelling will be 10/10 any time you type. But to double check, I love using the speech function (control + click + start speaking) on my Mac.

TRELLO – A major key for project management when you’re working with a team of people. It just keeps everything organized AF and streamlines communication.

QUICKBOOKS – This helps keep all my business accounting in order and makes it so easy to track expenses.

HEADSPACE -Training your mind and body to be still is so beneficial. They even have just 2 or 3-minute meditations that really help with staying focused.
